-10mm perimeter gap required. Areas that are exposed to direct sunlight and temperatures over 40°C or subject to significant temperature fluctuations, the expansion joint should be increased to 12mm.

PLEASE READ: Floor to ceiling windows coupled with the New Zealand sun can create floor surface temperatures over 70°C. Classic Oak flooring is manufactured to be stable in low and high temperatures (0-50°C). However, your floor should be protected from extreme temperatures and strong direct sunlight using interior temperature and humidity control (recommended temperatures 10 - 30°C), window tinting, awnings and/or curtains/ blinds. Dramatic temperature changes and/or extreme humidity can cause joins to lip/gap and prolonged direct sunlight may cause fading. We strongly recommend the use of a vapor barrier, subfloor moisture can lead to installation failure, alkali salt build up damage to joints and a potential mold source.
